Basketball Betting and Overtime: The Rule Line

In detail. In the NBA rulebook, regulation periods are twelve minutes and every overtime period is five minutes, and play resumes after a tie at the end of the fourth period. Whether a bet counts those extra periods is not a basketball rule; the book’s terms decide.

- Tie: overtime of 5 minutes, repeated until one team leads.
- Settlement: the market’s terms say which of these the bet covers.
Problem: a total is settled at regulation and the game goes to overtime. Fix: read the market’s rule line before the bet, and look for the words “including overtime”.

PBA Formats and Why They Matter

In detail. The Philippine Basketball Association was founded in 1975 and plays three conferences each season:
- The Philippine Cup, which has no imports.

- The Governors’ Cup, one import per team.
Imports are foreign or naturalized players, allowed only in the Commissioner’s and Governors’ Cups. Finals are best-of-seven.
